This is a story based on a four-week admission to a mental health ward, in a public hospital, as a patient diagnosed with bipolar 2 disorder, severe depression and generalised anxiety disorder. The story is told through a patient’s lens and captures the day to day going-ons on the ward; encounters with other patients; denial, stigma and shame of mental illness; engagements with health professionals; effects on family, and facing one’s own mortality. This memoir is raw, honest and confronting and treads into territory that has rarely been explored.

Thank you for reading my third memoir.
